new ride

for months i have had this suh-weet centurion master ironman dave scott road bike, bone stock, aside from the tires. it had been sitting half-converted for some time. this morning i finally found the 10minutes it took to swap the cog and size the chain. sometimes you just get tired of riding the same bike day in and day out, change is good.

cyclo-camping night

thursday night, oh around 11:30pm, im noodling away in my barn, then i hear a loud freehub tickety-tick, and think "wtf?!"

then i peak out the doors and see 3 headlights approaching, and couple tings of a brass bell. it was kasy, andrea, and tom, 3 friendly people from philadelphia.

kasy did tell me he was gonna show up thursday, but by 10pm i figured their plans changed and didnt expect them. they camped out in our yard the first night, then planned to hit up some other campgrounds over the next few days.

the next area they were going to visit was bulls island, along the delaware river on the NJ side. they invited us to stay with them friday nite, lauras bday, and we did. heres some pictures!

toppin em off
escorting me to work
having some coffee at my work, in adorable lambertville, NJ.
after work, heading to the campground
leaving the house
this critter slept in the tent with us
heading home, gotta go to work!

mechanical failure

2 nights ago
approx 11pm
one headlight for 2 of us (on lauras bike)
about 1mi from home
at the base of a very steep 1/2mi grunt of a climb
38:25, outta the saddle
oh f---
hoofed the rest of the hill, then laura graciously towed me the rest of the way, with a couple madisons thrown in for fun.

return of the fridge

last week i painted my carradice rack/support. used appliance epoxy. i used appliance epoxy a very long time ago on a set of wheels for my now long gone honda crx. more recently it was used by petey d on his trek 800 SS mtb conversion, which was dubbed "the fridge" for its use of appliance paint. unfortunately the original fridge is long gone, hopefully its memory will live on. in honor of the fridge i will only use appliance epoxy on my racks. and also because its really a durable and chip resistant coating. available in white, black, or almond.
